| Q |
What should I know about car maintenance in general? |
| A |
Your car is a moving piece of machinery, it needs maintenance and regular service - not just the minimum recommended services that are listed in you service manual but also the extras. For example, an efficient cooling system prolongs the life of the radiator and water pump, or the power steering system service will extend the life of your cars power-steering pump. The list is long so it is important to have a good mechanic working on your car. A good relationship with you car and your car's mechanic will benefit you in the long run, providing you with a long lasting and safe car. |

| Q |
How often should I worry about my car battery? |
| A |
Batteries need less care these days, but even with maintenance-free batteries, corrosion on posts and cable terminals can build up. If corrosion is neglected, the result may be an engine that won't start. To keep current flowing properly to your car's starter and electrical system, have the electrical system checked regularly. |

| Q |
How important is it to change engine oil? |
| A |
The most effective way to ensure long life for your vehicle's engine is to change the engine oil frequently. Changing your engine oil and filter will stop sludge build up which could cause the oil pickup to be blocked, causing expensive and avoidable engine repairs. Changing your vehicles engine oil regularly will also help prevent the piston oil rings to seize which in turn could cause your engine to use excessive oil. Over time oil breaks down and accumulates particles that will damage engine parts. Recommendations for frequency vary, but to be safe, change your oil about every 5,000 kms or refer to you car's manual. You should keep in mind the type of driving your vehicle does. |

What do I need to know about tyres and wheel alignment? |
| A |
Tyres are the point of contact between the driver and the road and their importance cannot be stressed enough. Having a set of tyres that is suitably matched to your vehicle and your driving style can make a real difference in terms of safety as well as your driving experience. Radial tires have now almost replaced other varieties since their technological design offers better safety and handling, particularly at highway-driving speeds. They enable better steering and grip the road more solidly, particularly when cornering or driving on curvy roads. Get your tyres looked at whenever you spot any 'balding' or loss of tread. Maintaining the proper wheel alignment on your vehicle is critical for ensuring optimum handling, and it will also increase the longevity of your tires. In fact, misalignment and improper inflation are probably the two biggest causes for tires wearing out prematurely. At Elite, we have the latest computerized Wheel Aligner Machine. This enable us to offer both front and rear alignments when required. |

What about brakes? |
| A |
Frequent inspection and routine maintenance of your braking system's critical elements -- such as the rotor and pads on disc brakes -- is important to ensure that your vehicle remains safe and performs well. As your car ages and the forces of friction and heat take their toll on brake components, your braking system will gradually begin to lose some of its effectiveness. To keep your vehicle safe, you need to keep your brakes properly serviced, and the first step in that process is a brake inspection by experts at Elite. |
