Engine Won’t Start – Sounds Familiar?
This has to be the most common problem we handle daily at our Seven Hills Auto Workshop when customers call us. If you hear a clicking noise and the engine does not turn over it can indicate a battery problem. If the motor turns over but not start it may mean fuel or ignition issues .
Common reasons an engine won’t start:
- Flat Battery
- Rusty or loose battery leads
- Faulty Starter motor
- Bad Ignition switch
- Fuel pump failing to operate properly
- Dirty fuel filter
Service Engine Light
The service engine light provides the car driver a warning sign that something with engine, electrics, or transmission or any other component is causing problems or is damaged.
At Elite Automotive we have all the latest and greatest diagnostic tools to quickly identify the culprit and recommend a speedy solution so you can have your car working again.
Common Engine Service light causes:
- Petrol Cap not fitting properly
- Faulty Spark Plugs or Broken High Tension Leads
- ECM failure
- Damage coil packs and bad distributors
- Faulty Sensors
- Fuel delivery and quality problems
Another serious car engine breakdown cause is overheating! The most common reason….low coolant levels in the coolant reservoir. Lack of attention to the coolant levels can cause serious and or permanent engine damage. Cracked Engine heads and blown head gaskets can lead to this problem as well. White Smoke bellowing from the cars exhaust system is also an indicator of engine troubles.
Overheating main causes:
- Broken Thermostat
- Contaminated or low levels of radiator coolant
- Faulty Radiator Fan
- Torn or Twisted Radiator Hoses
- Internal Engine Leak
- Damaged radiator cap
- A Very Dirty or Blocked Air Filter
